NL Dodgers 10 vs. NL Vipers 9
Congratulations, North Langley Dodgers for pulling off the win in the 5th annual Will Smith Memorial championship game! It was a nail biter to the end!
Both teams were playing their 4th game of the day due to the rainouts and both didn't disappoint.
Inning 1 - Dodgers 3 - Vipers 0
Inning 2 - Dodgers 3 - Vipers 3
Inning 3 - Dodgers 7 - Vipers 7 ... right at the 1hr 15min cut-off ... I don't think any of the parents were as stressed as this tournament co-ordinator looking at the prospect of the final game only going 3 innings due to a time!!!!
Top of 4 - Vipers 7
Bottom of 4 - Dodgers got their first out, 2 runs came in, Dodgers got their 2nd out! Game is tied 9-9 The tying run #8 got on base with 2 strikes on him. The RBI that brought him in was solid and unquestionably the hit to end the game.
Congratulations to the Aldergrove Panthers for having the highest score in the round robin play with 2 wins and 1 tie.
11-12 ALD Panthers (Pool C) defeated by NL Vipers (Pool A)
5 innings were played in the Panthers vs. Vipers' Semi Final. With the Panthers down 7 runs in the bottom of the 5th. With the 6 run limit they couldn't catch up but ended strong with 6 runs in on 2 outs ending the game with the potential tying and winning run on base heading into the top of their order... so close, an impressive end to a strong tournament for coach Beulens and Panthers.
10 - 4 NL Dodgers (Pool B) def. NL Defenders (PoolD)
The Dodgers second wind had their bats working well in their semi final vs the Defenders. The Defenders had a strong start with 3 runs out of the gate but innings 2,3 & 4 only yielded one extra run. The Defenders had solid bats in pool play, it was a valiant effort in their 4 game of the day!
